Tremblay Family Reunion

While Jon and I were in Texas for a wedding, we were able to spend a couple of days with his family. His brother and family and his sister and her son all drove up from College Station and Houston. We all stayed at his parents' house and had a great time. We finally got to meet our youngest nephew! We had a great time - lots of yummy meals (including Mexican!), visiting with Jon's grandparents, the boys catching tadpoles, playing Acquire, and hanging out by the pond. Thanks for everything M & D!

Julia's Outdoor wedding

I flew home to Texas this week for a friend's wedding. I took the whole week off so that I could spend time with my parents and my grandma (in town for the wedding). It was a great vacation! We went out to eat, went shopping (I bought 4 pairs of shoes!), and I bought a cowgirl hat! I flew in Sunday, and the wedding was Friday. Thursday the MOB (mother of the bride for those of you not acquainted with bridal lingo) treated all of the bridesmaids to manicures and pedicures. I got French for both mani and pedi. It was a lot of fun and very relaxing before the big day.

Thursday evening was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Trust my mom to be the first person to actually shop during a wedding rehearsal! =) The rehearsal dinner was at La Hacienda. which is one of Jon's parents' fave restaurants (it turns out they actually had dinner there that night too!). It worked out well for us - we had to get in as much TexMex food as possible while in the Lone Star State (Colorado Mexican just isn't the same).

Friday we met my dad for lunch at his favorite Thai restuarant - another cuisine we haven't really found in Colorado. The wedding started at 7pm, but as a bridesmaid I got there at 5pm, dressed and ready for pics. I got there just in time to see Julia finish getting ready - her dress was amazing and she was gorgeous! We took some fun pics on the stairs (only a couple of trips, and no one fell!), and then it was back to the bridal suite to wait for the big moment. They had the wedding at The Tribute, a golf course/hotel in The Colony. It was gorgeous - and the weather was great (apparantly it thundered right as Julia, the bride, walked down the aisle, but the rain held off until later that night). We had a great time, and we wish Julia and Jeremy all the best! Have fun in Jamaica!!

1st Farmers' Market

So this Sunday was the first Highlands Ranch Farmers' Market of the season. It was a little strange. Only one of the 15-20 booths actually sold fruits and veggies. (Of which we purchased a tomato and 3 zucchinis.) The rest sold a variety of goods including: beef jerky, rice, bread, plants (at least close to veggies!), crocs - the shoes, and hats. There was even a magician! Definitely strange, although our tomato and zucchini were quite tasty. We also noticed that a lot of pregnant people seem to frequent the farmers' market. And we saw a Baylor bumper sticker - the first I've seen up here!

Grow seeds grow!

Inspired by the nice weather and the book I've been reading (see previous post), I visited Home Depot today to purchase seeds, potting soil, and 50 individual seed containers (they look sort of like egg crates but are made from soil?). I spent the afternoon planting the following seeds: yellow cherry tomatoes, Heirloom brandywine tomatoes, bell peppers, Bibb lettuce, zucchini squash, runner beans, and Cosmos (flowers). Ernie and Emma showed a little more interest than I had hoped - but after several sniffs (and a few tastes on Ernie's part), they decided it didn't merit much interest. Hopefully they keep this opinion and we don't come home to a mess tomorrow. Because according to information I've found, Denver's last frost date is May 5. That means my newly planted seeds need to stay indoors for a few weeks and cohabitate with the cats. Good thing I didn't plant my catnip seeds yet! =)
