Summer Adventures - Centennial Park

Yesterday we visited Centennial Park in Aurora.  It's a new park about 30 minutes away, that some friends had recommended.

I didn't realize that it's a water park!  They have lots of fun sprinklers and water areas, actually the whole park is pretty cool.  Lots of interesting play structures, rock walls, 2-story slides, and sandboxes.

It was really crowded though - we saw 3 buses from local daycares.  We'll come back again, and we'll bring Jack's swimsuit next time.

Summer Adventures - Evergreen

Last Friday, we visited Evergreen.  I didn't have a set plan, but it was nice weather, so I was looking for something fun outside.
We followed signs for the Hiwan Homestead Museum.  The museum itself wasn't open yet, but they have a nice big park with trees, a teepee, and a couple of covered wagons.
 The museum.
We had a lot of fun just playing outside.
And on the porch of the museum - the stairs provided a lot of entertainment.
 Front of the museum.
 We also visited Evergreen Lake.
There is a boardwalk around the lake, but Jack wasn't sure about the boards (some moved a bit when you walked on them).
The park in front of the lake.
There are ducks, and you can rent canoes.

We had a fun morning, and got home just before the rain clouds moved in.

Weekly pics - Playdough and garden update

 Jack's new fave book.
 Playdough-ing it up
What I get for vacuuming the upstairs alone
We finally got the screen in our bedroom replaced (it took 2 tries).
 Backyard flowers.
Visiing the garden plot right after it rained - he definitely prefers the cooler weather!

I love the candy-colored tomato cages in another person's garden plot.
Baby zucchinis on one of our plants.
 Lettuces.
 Baby tomatillos.
I didn't plant peas...but we have a small pea plant!
