Yesterday, Jack had what turned out to be his final ophthomology appointment for a while. Everything checked out great - the vessels in his retina are finally matured, and are completely normal! So that's another possible preemie complication that we avoided, which is great. (Sometimes they need surgery if they have the retinopathy of prematurity.) That was the last test we were pending, so it looks like the only preemie complication he's going to be stuck with is reflux.
He did really well for the eye drops (they have to give them 3 sets over 30 minutes to dilate their eyes, because infants can't have the stronger drops that adults get) and the actual examination. It was the first time I fed him outside of the house - definitely requires planning to have the bottle, formula, and thickener all ready. Mom went with me to the appointment (she had just arrived from Dalhart), which definitely helped. Jack comes with a lot of stuff!
