Updates

Okay, so I've been a big slacker for the past couple of months as far as posting. So, here's an update post as to what we've been up to for the past 2 months:
-Jen spent a week in Virginia/DC in mid-July for a national vet conference and some vacay time with grandma/mom/friends - lots of yummy seafood and shopping involved!
-Jon conseqently spent a week bach-ing it with the cats - (and everyone survived) =)
-Jon purchased and installed new blinds for the entire house - we love them (and they're not the vinyl kind so the cats can't push themselves through the blinds and break them!)
-Jen is now the only dr at the practice - hopefully this will change soon - I'd love to learn more form another vet!
-Jon finished his big work project on time (and even helped other people finish theirs on time too) - so fewer late nights for him (we both appreciate this!)
-Jon made a surprise trip down to Dallas to celebrate his dad's birthday with the family - he had a great time visiting - we certainly miss the more frequent visits with everyone now that we live in another state!
-Jen read the 7th Harry Potter book - Mom and I bought them the day the came out!
-we've continued to enjoy weekly produce from our CSA - Jen started making zucchini chocolate chip cookies to try to use it all up!
-we were both thrilled to hear that our friends (Jon's best man) had their first baby - congrats Alice and Kyle - we're so happy for you!!
-Jen talked Jon into purchasing 50 Colorado-grown peaches from the farmers market - and now have a freezer stocked with sliced peaches for pies and cobblers this winter
-we spent a weekend with friends at their family cabin down near Colorado Springs - we visited Pike's Peak (our first time above 14,000 feet!), Royal Gorge, Florrisant fossil beds (redwoods in Colorado!), and Garden of the Gods
-Jon installed a brand-new, fancy-schmancy faucet in our kitchen and put up a flagpole attachment in front of our house in time for Labor Day (does anyone else notice a trend in who does the home improvement - he's so handy! =)
-we spent a day up in Winter Park and Grand Lake (places we stayed at our honeymoon) - and ate dinner at one of the restaurants where we ate on our honeymoon
-we both bought ski/snow pants (no more skiing in jeans for Jon!)
-Ernie and Emma continue to enjoy watching birds and squirrels out the windows (and Emma continues her un-successful mission to escape the house through a window again!)
-we're looking forwards to heading up to Golden this weekend for a wedding (one of Jen's co-workers) and then on to Estes Park for the Highlands Festival and camping in the Rocky Mountain National Park
