Friday at the Zoo
With the storm coming in today (we're supposed to get 8-12 inches), Jack and I decided to get some outdoor time yesterday. We headed out early to spend the morning at the zoo.
It was already pretty cold! But luckily there are lots of indoor exhibits for when we got too chilly.
Jack is still really cautious about plank bridges - he doesn't like that you can see through the slats.
This pictures series cracks me up. Jack is totally enthralled with following this tiny bird, while behind him an orangatan is following him. :)
The weather seemed to keep most people away. We did see about 5 school buses when we got there, but overall we were able to avoid any crowds, and we saw a lot of exhibits with no one around.
Of course sticks are always fun to play with, no matter where you are.
We checked out the train, but it wasn't running yet when we went by.
I was impressed with how close this guy was...
but Jack was much more impressed with this creature.
We happened to be in the elephant area during a demo. They have trained the elephants to do different poses (the trainer said they only do useful ones that allow them to do exams and treatments as needed).
There are geese that wander all over the zoo. This one was taking advantage of a bag of popcorn by the stroller lineup! :)
We parked our stroller too (after making sure all snacks were safely zipped up) to head into the Tropical Discovery. It's full of aquariums, reptiles, other rainforest animals, and even some crocodiles. Jack loves the fish, and the 20 minutes spent in a humid, 80 degree building thawed us both out.
Spring Cleaning
Last weekend we had fantastic weather, so Jack and I cleaned the garage.
It all started because of this monster - Jon's new snowblower. I needed to play tetris with the lawn equipment, trash, strollers, and Jack's assortment of toys to find a spot for it.
Jon had to move the Jeep out of the garage.
Jack loves playing in the Jeep, but *hates* the sounds it makes.
We had a new kitchen sink installed too, so that inspired me to re-organize the kitchen. I raced around to get as much done as possible while Jack was in preschool. Ernie was a big help. :)
I didn't finish during preschool though, so Jack helped with the pantry.
And decided he wanted to close the doors on himself.
It was quiet in there for a while, and when I checked on him he was snacking on these leftover French's fried onions. (Just like Daddy likes to...although he doesn't hide in the pantry to eat them.)
Tulips popping up in our front garden.

Jack and I enjoyed the nice weather this week, spending lots of time outside after preschool.
